Baseball Recap: Wickliffe Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Wickliffe won against Cardinal on Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Blue Devils didn't even let the Huskies on the board, marking the Blue Devils' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Nunzio Zivnoska made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Zivnoska wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Bucar, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Kaden Urban, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Wickliffe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.

Wickliffe is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Cardinal, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Wickliffe is taking a road trip to challenge Cuyahoga Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cardinal, they will challenge Bristol at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
