Basketball Game Preview: Jellico Blue Devils vs. Knoxville Central Bobcats

The Jellico Blue Devils and the Knoxville Central Bobcats will round out the year against one another at at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for Jellico and four for Knoxville Central.

Jellico is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Rhea County on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Jellico was beaten by Rhea County 61-28. The Blue Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Jellico's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kendall Osborn, who posted eight points and six rebounds, and Chloe Creekmore, who earned seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Knoxville Central came up short against Coalfield on Friday and fell 45-37. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 76th).

Knoxville Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Jellico, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Jellico was taken down by Knoxville Central 74-45 in their previous meeting back in November of 2017. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Knoxville Central's Ashton Blair, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
