Basketball Game Preview: Southland Eagles vs. Petersburg Buffaloes

Southland is 0-10 against Petersburg since January of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Southland Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Petersburg Buffaloes at 7:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Southland is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were beaten by Crosbyton 59-16. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Petersburg ended up a good deal behind O'Donnell on Tuesday and lost 62-45. The loss continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Southland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Petersburg, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Southland suffered a grim 66-41 defeat to Petersburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Southland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
