Softball Recap: Waconia Drops Season-High Score on Chaska

Waconia took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Chaska, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Hawks 8-6. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Reagan Mieras, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI were her first of the season. Maya Pena was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Waconia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Waconia's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Chaska, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Waconia will head out to challenge St. Louis Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chaska, they will square off against North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
