Mountain Pointe suffers ninth straight loss on the road

Recap: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Campo Verde Coyotes

The Mountain Pointe Pride suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Campo Verde on the road and fell 62-29. While losing is never fun, Mountain Pointe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Campo Verde is ranked 50th).

It was another big night for Kelsey Watts, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 20 rebounds for Campo Verde. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watts has scored all season. Kdynce Parks was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Mountain Pointe's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-18. As for Campo Verde, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Pointe won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Combs at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Combs is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Campo Verde, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Casteel at 7:00 p.m. Casteel is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
