Baseball Recap: Jackson Prep Patriots vs. Jackson Academy Raiders
Jackson Prep and Jackson Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Jackson Prep had to settle for second. They lost 15-7 to the Raiders. Surprisingly, this marked the Patriots' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Jackson Prep got a good showing from Reid Vineyard, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
On the hitting side, Cole Gideon was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. Another player making a difference was Gardner Young, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Jackson Prep's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 20-15-1. As for Jackson Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 20-13.
