Sebring hasn't had much luck against Lake Region recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Sebring will be playing at home against Lake Region at 7:00 p.m. Sebring is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Sebring hadn't beaten LaBelle on the road since March 22, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. Sebring came out on top against LaBelle by a score of 5-2.
Amber Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Layla Davis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Paizlee Carnahan, who scored two runs and stole two bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Region). They never let Winter Haven get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won eight matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Margaret Jenkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makenna Meadows, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Lake Region was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winter Haven only posted a batting average of .071.
Lake Region pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Sebring, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Both Sebring and Lake Region just can't seem to miss. Sebring has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Lake Region struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sebring might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Lake Region in their previous matchup back in February. Will Sebring have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
