Football Game Preview: St. Rita Mustangs vs. Guilford Vikings + Official Tickets

The St. Rita Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Guilford Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with St. Rita sitting on three straight victories and Guilford on eight.

St. Rita gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They strolled past IC Catholic Prep with points to spare, taking the game 38-21.

Brandon Johnson Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 158 yards and three TDs. He is becoming a predictor of St. Rita's success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Rita was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to St. Rita's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Josiah Sutton was the leader with 3.5. St. Rita received some extra help from Jack Schapendonk, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Guilford blew past Boylan Catholic, posting a 52-7 win. The game marked the Vikings' most dominant victory of the season.

Guilford's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for St. Rita, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-4.

Everything came up roses for St. Rita against Guilford in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 45-3 win. In that contest, the Mustangs amassed a halftime lead of 35-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
