Softball Preview: Bishop Kenny Crusaders vs. Atlantic Coast Stingrays
The Bishop Kenny Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Bishop Kenny can't be too happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Tuesday. They came up short against Paxon School For Advanced Studies, falling 14-4. The Crusaders have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast got themselves on the board against First Coast on Tuesday, but First Coast never followed suit. They blew past the Buccaneers 16-0.
Lily Maguire was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Maguire was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Stella Lynton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Cano, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Atlantic Coast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First Coast only posted an OBP of .062.
