Softball Game Preview: Shenandoah Raiders vs. Eastern Hancock Royals

Shenandoah is 2-8 against Eastern Hancock since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Raiders will challenge the Royals at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Shenandoah managed to slip by Lapel the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Raiders came up short against the Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 9-1. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Shenandoah saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reese Sprunger, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Eastern Hancock and Frankton, and Frankton kept the tradition alive. The Royals fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday.

Shenandoah's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Eastern Hancock, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Shenandoah got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Eastern Hancock by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
