Mountain Island Charter suffers fourth straight loss at home

Recap: Mountain Island Charter Raptor vs. Lincoln Charter Eagles

The Mountain Island Charter Raptor suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 56-29 loss at the hands of Lincoln Charter. Mountain Island Charter has not had much luck with Lincoln Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Raptor players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayla Bridgewater, who scored nine points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Fudge, who scored three points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.

Mountain Island Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Symphani Stevens, who scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals for Lincoln Charter. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stevens has scored all season. Claire David was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Mountain Island Charter's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Lincoln Charter, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Island Charter will face off against Community School of Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community School of Davidson's defense has only allowed 25.8 points per game this season, so Mountain Island Charter's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lincoln Charter, they will head out on the road to square off against Corvian Community at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corvian Community will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while Lincoln Charter is ranked 135th).
