Baseball Recap: Liberty Magnet Takes a Loss

Liberty Magnet and St. Augustine squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Liberty Magnet had to settle for second. They came up short against the Purple Knights, falling 17-1. The Patriots just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Liberty Magnet saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Demond Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Thomas is becoming a predictor of the Patriots' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-2 (and 9-15 when he doesn't).

Liberty Magnet's loss dropped their record down to 14-17. As for St. Augustine, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-14.

Liberty Magnet does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Augustine, they will square off against St. Thomas More on Tuesday.
