Basketball Recap: Northwood Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Landon Tinsley and Jahari Mccoy

After flying high against Alexandria Country Day last Thursday, Northwood came back down to earth. The Northwood Gators came up short against the Montgomery Tigers on Tuesday, falling 64-40. The defeat continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Northwood's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jahari Mccoy, who posted 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Landon Tinsley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Mccoy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Moran, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montgomery to victory, but perhaps none more so than Latney Laysone, who went 10 for 22 en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Jacorian Shepherd, who scored four points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Montgomery, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Northwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-12 win against LaSalle on the 17th. As for Montgomery, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-61 loss against Sterlington on the 16th.
