Volleyball Recap: Ketchikan Kings vs. Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears
Ketchikan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears. Unfortunately, that's the eighth time they've come up short against the Crimson Bears this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat on Friday.
While Ketchikan had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18.
Juneau-Douglas was led to victory by Brie Powers and Lavinia Ma'Ake. Powers had 19 assists and five digs, while Ma'Ake had 12 kills, 11 digs, two aces, and one block. That's the most kills Ma'Ake has posted since back in September.
Ketchikan's loss dropped their record down to 0-13-2. As for Juneau-Douglas, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-12-6.
Ketchikan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Juneau-Douglas, they will square off against Bettye Davis East Anchorage at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
