Softball Game Preview: Olympic Heights Lions vs. Boca Raton Bobcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Olympic Heights Lions challenge Boca Raton Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Olympic Heights has given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Olympic Heights came into their game two weeks ago off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 27-12 to Palm Beach Central. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Mya Rey-Anderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Elsie Throckmorton was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Boca Raton had taken West Boca Raton down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Bobcats took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulls.

Emily Falkowitz was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kate Ivanik was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Audrey Brandao, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Olympic Heights' record now sits at 5-4. As for Boca Raton, their record is now 6-4.

Olympic Heights might still be hurting after the 23-9 loss they got from Boca Raton in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
