Soccer Game Preview: South vs. Culver City

The South Spartans will be taking part in a tournament against the Culver City Centaurs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

South is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Torrance last Thursday. South fell just short of Torrance by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, the Spartans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Culver City waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Monarchs a 7-0 shutout. The contest marked the Centaurs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Culver City's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matchups. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything went South's way against Culver City when the teams last played back in December of 2022, as South made off with a 7-3 victory. Does South have another victory up their sleeve, or will Culver City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
