Softball Recap: Manheim Township Takes a Loss

Manheim Township extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-11. They fell 7-4 to the Penn Manor Comets. The Blue Streaks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Comets earlier this season, when they won 11-7.

As for Penn Manor, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For Penn Manor's part, Emma Steiner looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Steiner has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Penn Manor let Kyleigh Lamborn and Callie Hickey run wild. Lamborn went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Hickey went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That home run marked the first that Lamborn has launched this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manheim Township will host Lampeter-Strasburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Streaks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Penn Manor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Solanco at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Comets will need to watch out since the Golden Mules have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
