Softball Recap: First Flight Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

First Flight won the last time they faced Northeastern and things went their way on Friday too. The First Flight Nighthawks never let the Northeastern Eagles get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Nighthawks.

Riley Gilreath was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gilreath was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Savannah Schnader was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Avery Winslow was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

First Flight's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Northeastern, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Flight will head out to square off against Manteo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manteo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so First Flight's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Northeastern, they are taking a road trip to face off against Holmes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeastern has given up an average of 18.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
