Preview: Maynard vs. Holy Name Central Catholic

The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Holy Name Central Catholic (2-5) takes on Maynard (5-3) in the first playoff game of the year. Maynard will be looking to take advantage of a struggling Holy Name Central Catholic defense that has allowed an average of 35 points per game.

Holy Name Central Catholic went up against St. Peter-Marian last week. Holy Name Central Catholic's defense took a beating in the first half, giving up 28 points. That put it down 28 - 0. The offense wasn't without blame, either, as it totaled six points in the second half. The game concluded as a 35 - 6 defeat for Holy Name Central Catholic.

As for Maynard, it is still above.500 but has been slipping the past two games. Victory was within reach last week, but it ultimately lost 20 - 14 to Clinton.

We'll find out on Friday which team can get past their defeat and step into the winner's circle.
