Softball Game Preview: Southside Tigers vs. Laurens Raiders

Southside is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will take on the Laurens Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Southside has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Southside's offense. They lost 28-0 to Greenville H on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Laurens came up short against Woodruff on Tuesday, falling 19-6. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addison Trevino made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Carly Edwards, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Laurens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Southside's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Laurens, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
