Football Recap: Morehead Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Morehead's offense. They were outmatched by the Walkertown Wolfpack and fell 34-0. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Wolfpack recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Morehead didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Taevion Peterson and Zyon Blackstock. Blackstock has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Nasir Conrad was his usual excellent self, rushing for 154 yards and one TD while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also picking up 64 receiving yards and one score for Walkertown. With that strong performance, Conrad is now averaging an impressive 101.1 rushing yards per game. Jerrell Crawford was another key player, throwing for 223 yards and three touchdowns.

Morehead's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Walkertown, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Morehead wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-14 defeat against Carver on the 7th. As for Walkertown, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wheatmore at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
