Softball Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

If Newark was riding high fresh off their 12-4 takedown of Reynoldsburg on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats lost 15-4 to the Lancaster Golden Gales on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 8-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Lexi Shanaberg made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Newark's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Lancaster, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Newark is set to take on their familiar foe Groveport-Madison at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lancaster will face off against rival Teays Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
