Basketball Recap: Berea Pirates vs. Bluegrass United Bluehawks
The Berea Pirates were the 38-29 winner over the Bluegrass United Bluehawks when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between Berea and the Bluehawks wasn't particularly close, with the Pirates falling 52-34. Berea has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Allie McGuire was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Bluegrass United. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McGuire has scored all season. Grace Hanlon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Berea's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Bluegrass United, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berea will face off against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bluegrass United, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Shelby County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
