Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Prep Gators vs. King's Academy Knights

Sacred Heart Prep is 8-2 against King's Academy since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sacred Heart Prep Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the King's Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

King's Academy will be up against a hot Sacred Heart Prep team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Sacred Heart Prep walked away with a 67-58 win over Menlo School on Tuesday.

Sacred Heart Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Osterloh, who went 7 for 14 en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave Osterloh a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Alex Straser, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, King's Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Priory by a score of 68-65. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Knights came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Panthers are ranked 246th).

Sacred Heart Prep is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for King's Academy, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 17-4.
