Softball Game Preview: R-S Central Hilltoppers vs. Hendersonville Bearcats

R-S Central is a perfect 6-0 against Hendersonville since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers will welcome the Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. R-S Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

R-S Central's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Patton. The Hilltoppers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Olivia Harris's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, R-S Central let Corean Booth and Lillie Beheler run wild. Booth went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Beheler scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those three RBI gave Booth a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Hasty, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

R-S Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Hendersonville hadn't done well against Brevard recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bearcats had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bearcats have posted since March 12, 2024.

Hendersonville's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-6. As for R-S Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Everything went R-S Central's way against Hendersonville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as R-S Central made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Hilltoppers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
