Volleyball Recap: West Jefferson Starts off Right with Win over Delaware Christian

West Jefferson gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Delaware Christian Eagles 3-2. For the Roughriders, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

West Jefferson wouldn't go down easily and took Delaware Christian into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 22-25, 15-9.

Julia Beatty paced West Jefferson's offense, picking up 32 kills. Beatty got some help from Mary Ava Wills and her 21 assists. Beatty also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Rachel Pelphrey, racking up four apiece.

West Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Fairbanks on the 19th. As for Delaware Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Worthington Christian on the 19th.
