Softball Recap: Breese Central Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Breese Central walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Althoff Catholic Crusaders with a sharp 16-1 victory on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won four games in a row.

Lily Lappe looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Karli Thole was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kate Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Breese Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Breese Central's victory bumped their record up to 10-19. As for Althoff Catholic, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Coming up, Breese Central will head out on the road to square off against Columbia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. Althoff Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
