Softball Recap: Caroline's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Caroline fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Spotsylvania on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 5-4. The matchup marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jaidyn Tingen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ava Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nya Howard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Caroline fell to 4-1. As for Spotsylvania, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caroline will welcome Riverbend at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Spotsylvania, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brooke Point at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
