Gilbert Christian waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Payson Longhorns. Considering the Knights have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Caleb Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, Dane Coyle was incredible, firing off five runs, three doubles, and one triple while going 4-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Gilbert Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Micky Moran, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Gilbert Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Gilbert Christian pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Payson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Gilbert Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 34-0 victory against ALA - Ironwood on the 28th. As for Payson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-1 win against San Tan Foothills on the 25th.
