Baseball Recap: Nettleton Takes a Loss

Nettleton lost against West Memphis back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Raiders fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 3-2.

Maddox Hampton was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Hampton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Butler, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Nettleton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for West Memphis, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-17.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nettleton beat the Blue Devils by a score of 4-0 later that day.
