Basketball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-17. They took a blow against the Ida Baker Bulldogs, falling 82-32. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-13.

Matthew Loubriel and Anthony Marius certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Loubriel posted five points, while Marius earned six points.

As for Ida Baker, they moved to 6-15 with that win, which also ended their 12-game losing streak. That 50-point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Brendan Slack continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 16-for-21 en route to 40 points and eight boards. He is becoming a predictor of Ida Baker's success: when he posts at least 30 points the team is undefeated (and 3-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Daz Anderson, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 16 points along with six steals and five assists.

Riverdale has already played their next game, a 78-44 defeat against Cypress Lake on the 23rd. As for Ida Baker, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-56 loss against Neumann on the 24th.
