Softball Game Preview: Dobie Longhorns vs. South Houston Trojans

Dobie has gone a perfect 10-0 against South Houston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Longhorns will host the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Dobie is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since February 21st on Friday. They fell just short of Pearland by a score of 3-1. The Longhorns have struggled against the Oilers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Vanessa De La Fuente spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, South Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 30th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 21-0 to Dawson.

Dobie's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for South Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.

Everything went Dobie's way against South Houston in their previous meeting back in March, as Dobie made off with a 23-1 win. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
