Basketball Preview: Arvin Bears vs. Mira Monte Lions
Arvin is 1-9 against the Lions since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Arvin Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Mira Monte Lions at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Arvin has three straight victories, the Lions have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Arvin didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Trojans, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory.
Arvin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Miguel Damian out in front who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Damian has scored all season. Xzavier Pierson-Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Mira Monte came up short against the Sun on Thursday and fell 63-50.
Arvin's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Mira Monte, they now have a losing record at 12-13.
Arvin suffered a grim 76-52 defeat to the Lions when the teams last played back in January. Can Arvin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
