Preview: Colorado Academy Mustangs vs. Peak to Peak Pumas

Colorado Academy is 9-1 against Peak to Peak since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Colorado Academy Mustangs' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Peak to Peak Pumas at 4:00 p.m. on February 8th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

A well-balanced attack led Colorado Academy over Eagle Ridge Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Colorado Academy blew Eagle Ridge Academy out of the water with a 66-17 final score. Given Colorado Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Eagle Ridge Academy is ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colorado Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anna Johnson, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Wolff, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Peak to Peak had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 47-15 victory over Stargate School on the road. That's two games straight that Peak to Peak has won by exactly 32 points.

Colorado Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Peak to Peak, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Colorado Academy took their win against Peak to Peak in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 48-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colorado Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
