Soccer Game Preview: Ridgeview vs. Fleming Island

Ridgeview is 0-5 against Fleming Island since December of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Ridgeview Panthers will square off against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 2:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Ridgeview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Orange Park by a score of 3-1.

Meanwhile, Fleming Island kept a clean sheet against Bolles on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Bulldogs. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mikey Male and Daniel Vizcarrondo scored both of Fleming Island's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Fleming Island's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Ridgeview, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6-1 record this season.

Ridgeview might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Fleming Island in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can Ridgeview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
