Football Recap: Salem Comes Up Short

Salem came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 49-7 defeat at the hands of the Patrick Henry Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Patriots are ranked 23rd).

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Patrick Henry, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Salem will face off against rival Cave Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Patrick Henry is set to square off against their familiar foe Christiansburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
