Baseball Recap: Selma Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Selma won the last time they faced Reedley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bears walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Pirates. The win was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won four games in a row.

Noah Garcia-Ortega spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jacob Hernandez and Sonny Rivera did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Rivera scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that Rivera snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Selma now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Reedley, they moved to 8-3 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Selma will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
