Softball Recap: Acalanes Finds Playoff Glory Versus St. Joseph Notre Dame

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Acalanes walked away with it. They never let the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Wednesday. The contest marked the Dons' most dominant win of the season.

Maya Shoenhair made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Shoenhair was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, June Natal was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Santana Tamayo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Acalanes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Acalanes' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-6.

Looking ahead, Acalanes will head out to challenge Northgate at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. St. Joseph Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
