Preview: Springstead Eagles vs. Citrus Hurricanes
Springstead is 10-0 against Citrus since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Springstead Eagles will be playing at home against the Citrus Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Springstead knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Citrus likes a good challenge.
Springstead posted their biggest victory since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Nature Coast Tech 57-32.
Springstead got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Nicholson out in front who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Cordello, who scored ten points along with five assists and two blocks.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 63 points the game before, Citrus were a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They were beaten by Chiefland 69-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Citrus has scored all season.
Springstead has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Citrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Everything came up roses for Springstead against Citrus in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 68-31 win. With Springstead ahead 35-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
