Basketball Recap: Chatham Charter Knights vs. Southern Wake Academy Lions
Chatham Charter lost against Southern Wake Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chatham Charter Knights were beaten by the Southern Wake Academy Lions 72-36. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Lions are ranked 121st).

When it comes to explaining why Chatham Charter lost, don't look at Gabe McKoy. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points. McKoy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Bryan Epperson was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-11 on his way to 19 points and six boards for Southern Wake Academy. Chatham Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Southern Wake Academy, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4.
Chatham Charter has already played their next matchup, a 77-32 victory against River Mill on the 12th. As for Southern Wake Academy, they will be playing at home against Woods Charter at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. Southern Wake Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Woods Charter likes a good challenge.
