Byers waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Calhan a 20-0 shutout. Byers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.
Jack Earl made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Earl was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Earl is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Byers let Garret Crecelius and Marshall Hacker run wild. Crecelius scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Hacker scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
