Football Recap: Elk Grove Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Chase Dyer and Jason Ballesteros

If Elk Grove was riding high fresh off their 51-0 takedown of Sheldon last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thundering Herd fell just short of the Pleasant Grove Eagles by a score of 10-7 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thundering Herd of the 31-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Elk Grove had strong showings from Jason Ballesteros, who rushed for 161 yards, and Chase Dyer, who rushed for 51 yards and one score on only five carries.

Elk Grove now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Pleasant Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Elk Grove will venture away from home to square off against Monterey Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Thundering Herd's defense better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 28.9 points per game this season. As for Pleasant Grove, they will head out on the road to take on Laguna Creek at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
