Basketball Game Preview: North Broward Prep Eagles vs. Pine Crest Panthers

The North Broward Prep Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Pine Crest Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pine Crest will be up against a hot North Broward Prep team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. North Broward Prep had just enough and edged St. Thomas Aquinas out 66-64. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Raiders are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Pine Crest's and Don Soffer Aventura's match on Thursday was close at halftime, but Pine Crest turned on the heat in the second half with 52 points. Pine Crest took their game with ease, bagging an 81-45 win over Don Soffer Aventura. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

North Broward Prep better keep an eye on Rowan Hoffman. He was instrumental in Pine Crest's win, dropping a triple-double on 29 points, 19 rebounds, and 11 assists. Hoffman is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Mott, who posted 23 points and seven rebounds.

Pine Crest was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pine Crest's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for North Broward Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
