Baseball Recap: Gahr Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Gahr hadn't done well against La Mirada recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Gladiators' pitcher stepped up to hand the Matadores a 2-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the Gladiators' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Not much got past Noah Irwin, who gave up just two hits to keep La Mirada off the board. Irwin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Andres Gonzalez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Adrien Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Gahr is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for La Mirada, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gahr will face off against Warren at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Mirada, they will take on West Ranch at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Matadores' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
