The Cowan Blackhawks will take on the Delta Eagles in a tournament on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cowan has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Delta will arrive with four straight wins.
On Wednesday, Cowan didn't have quite enough to beat South Adams and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Blackhawks have lost by just one run.

Jaydon Auker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Delta won against Bellmont on Monday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Eagles came out on top against Hagerstown by a score of 5-2.
Ayden Mitchell tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last two matchups.
On the hitting side, Delta's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zane Cline, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cowan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Delta, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cowan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Delta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cowan suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Delta in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Blackhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
