Softball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens lost to Rushville-Industry back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Warriors fell 12-9 to the Rockets. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Athens got a massive performance out of Jaci Derringer, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Emma Crispen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Athens' loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Rushville-Industry, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Athens will take on Pleasant Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Rushville-Industry, they will head out on the road to square off against Camp Point Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
