Basketball Recap: Dayton Takes a Loss

Dayton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 52-43 to the Crosby Cougars. The Broncos lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 62-25 score last time.

Despite the loss, Dayton still got an impressive performance from Bryanna Boston, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance also gave Boston a new career-high in assists (three). Kaila Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Dayton was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Crosby's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasmine Zapata, who earned ten points. Lamaya Clark was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and five boards.

Dayton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-18. As for Crosby, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-14.

Dayton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-36 victory against West Fork on the 14th. As for Crosby, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-45 win against Porter on the 14th.
