Baseball Recap: Briarcrest Christian Has No Trouble Against Father Mcgivney Catholic

The Briarcrest Christian Saints narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins 5-3. That looming 5-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Saints yet this season.

Nathan Powers tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Clayton Speck, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Rogers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Briarcrest Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Father McGivney Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Briarcrest Christian will square off against Bartlett at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
