Basketball Game Preview: Germantown Red Devils vs. Southwind Jaguars

Germantown and Southwind are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Germantown Red Devils will be playing at home against the Southwind Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Germantown is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Houston, falling 66-43. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Mustangs are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Southwind challenged Bartlett on Friday. Southwind had to suffer through a 61-15 loss at the hands of Bartlett. The defeat continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Camille Sanders was Southwind's leading scorer, having posted six points. Sincere Burnett held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Southwind's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Germantown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Everything came up roses for Germantown against Southwind in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 50-22 win. Will Germantown repeat their success, or does Southwind have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
