Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Dominik Konarski and Aydon Austin Lead the Academy to Victory

It's playoff time, and The Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past the Denver West Cowboys with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Leading The Academy to victory were Aydon Austin and Dominik Konarski. Austin went 5-for-8 en route to 19 points and six steals, while Konarski shot 57% from the field on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Konarski has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Boychuk, who scored nine points and four steals.

The Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver West only one assist.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaheim Taylor, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 12 points and eight boards. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tegan Robinson, who earned 11 points.

The Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Denver West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-5 record this season.

The Academy and Holy Family will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Holy Family will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something The Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Denver West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
